Jo is Artistic Director of The Performance Corporation.

Recent directing credits for the company include KISS USA and GAA! (co-presentations with Solas Nua in Washington DC, 2010), Power Point (Absolut Fringe Festival, 2009 and Tampere Festival Finland, August, 2010), Cool Fresh Milk (Electronic Church, Berlin, and Darklight Festival, 2009), the Irish Times Theatre Award winning The Nose (Project Arts Centre, 2008), White-Out (Allianz Business to Arts Awards commission, 2009), JIG (St. Patrick’s Festival commission, 2008), KISS (commission for Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival, 2008), Lizzie Lavelle and the Vanishing of Emlyclough (Carne Golf Links, Belmullet, Co. Mayo, 2007), Drive-By (co-produced with Once Off Productions for Cork Midsummer Festival, Dublin Fringe Festival, 2006, and Canterbury Festival, 2007), and Dr. Ledbetter’s Experiment (Kilkenny Arts Festival co-production, 2004, and Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, 2006) – Irish Times Theatre Awards Best Production nominee. Other work for the company includes The Yokohama Delegation (Kilkenny Arts Festival co-production, 2005) which represented Ireland at the Prague Quadrennial Design Exhibition, Paka (Nairobi and Mombassa, Kenya, 2005), the Irish Times Theatre Awards multi-award winning Candide (Dublin Fringe Festival, Project Arts Centre, Belltable Unfringed Festival and on National Tour, 2002/2003), The 7 Deadly Sins, and the Stewart Parker Trust Award nominated The Butterfly Ranch (SS Michael and John, 2004) by Tom Swift.

Radio plays for The Performance Corporation and Lyric FM include The Flying Dutchman of Iniskill by Tom Swift (PPI National Award nominated Best Drama, 2008) and Haven By Michelle Read. The company has also made a number of short films directed by Jo including: War and Peace, the Musical by Maeve Ingoldsby, and A Life (Galway Film Fleadh, 15 Second Film Festival @ Darklight Festival and Belfast Festival at Queens). TV work includes a Flann O’Brien special for TV3 The 3rd Policeman’s Ball.

Other theatre directing credits include: Bogboy (Tall Tales), Beware of the Storybook Wolves (The Ark), Awimbaway, Mary Quirke, Moira and Dreamframe (Fishamble), Lost Letters of a Victorian Lady (Bewleys Theatre), A Place with the Pigs (Crypt Theatre), Look Back in Anger (City Arts Centre), Mary and Lizzie (Dublin Theatre Festival), and The Magic Island (Yew Theatre). Readings directed include The Shewing up of Blanco Posnett and Spreading the News (abbeyonehundred/Dublin Theatre Festival) and King of the Castle (Dublin Theatre Festival).

Jo curates The Performance Corporation’s annual SPACE Programme, an international multidisciplinary artists residency at the company’s base in Castletown House, Co. Kildare. She has lectured, given workshops and presented on the company’s work in Trinity College Dublin, Queen’s University Belfast and University College Dublin. A B.A/M.A. graduate of the Samuel Beckett Centre Trinity College, Jo is a board member of Fishamble, Theatre Forum, Riverbank Arts Centre and The Association of Theatre Directors of Ireland.
